I am not sure why this is advertised as a cake stand, as that is really one of the few things it would not be good for. This is perfect for charcuterie or pastries where guests will be making selections and it can be covered in between selections.
It arrived in styrofoam to help protect the acrylic lid and wooden tray. The dome lid sets onto the tray easily. It is not designed to fasten to the tray. The dome is very simple to open and close and provides ample access to reach whatever treats are on the tray.
The wooden tray has cutouts at the bottom (in last photo) so it is very simple to pick up or set down the tray without tipping it or pinching your fingers. Many of my charcuterie boards do not have the cut outs and can be very challenging to transport without tipping it and risking ruining the display.

MUST HAVE TWO SIDED PASTRY DISPLAY CASE!
This case is the answer for those who enjoy sharing baking treats. This is a convenient, easy to use and access the pastries. If you like sharing, you can bake cakes, pies, cupcakes, breads, and display them in the case. You can bring them to meetings, formal or informal gatherings and know that your guests have convenient access to the treats inside.
This case is not limited to pastries, etc. You can display small sandwiches and other food items. The size, and ease of lifting the glass on both sides makes this a no-brainer. The case is easily held and carried and sits solidly on a surface. Often we carry one treat per case; if you go on a baking spree and make more than usual, you can conveniently carry them to share. This case will protect your food from unwanted pests; simply roll the dome on either side after each use. A fantastic serving device!

Bug-Free Dreams, but the Gnats Found a Way
I am mostly very happy with this Cake Stand with Lid. The hinged clear flip dome is incredibly convenient for serving desserts and cookies without having to find a place to set down a heavy lid. It looks beautiful on the counter, and the display visibility is excellent.
The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is that the built-in air holes are a bit too large. Unfortunately, they are big enough for tiny gnats to get inside. If you plan to use this strictly indoors in a bug-free environment or for short periods, it is absolutely perfect.
However, if you struggle with fruit flies or want to use it outside, you might need to cover the holes.

Nice Cake Stand!
This is a really nice cake stand with lid. The wood of the cake stand is nice and sturdy and seems like it will hold up well with use. The lid, though, is really the star of the show. It's made of a nice thick plastic and it opens really nicely. I was also impressed with how the plastic seemed to seal nicely around the edges of the wood. It's not air-tight, but it is certainly air-resistant. I also like how the lid is designed so that when it is closed, the front and back parts of the lid seal well, instead of leaving a gap like a lesser cover might do. Overall, I'd say it's worth the price. It's not the cheapest item, but is also isn't made cheaply.

Perfect size and great lid, but the unsealed pine wood base is a major flaw
I purchased this cake stand for personal home use, and the size is absolutely perfect for that. The hinged clear dome is fantastic because it keeps my breads fresh and completely safe from flies or anything else in the air. However, the major downside to this product is the base, which seems to be made out of pine wood. This wood is very soft and porous, and just a simple swipe with a dry paper towel will show lots of small splinters and wood particles. To make matters worse, the wood is stained but completely unsealed. When I wiped the tray with a damp towel, the towel turned black from the stain rubbing off, and the wood instantly soaked up the moisture, causing the tray to warp.
The listing advertises that this is food-safe and can be used for meats and cheeses, but because it is unsealed, it should absolutely not be used for that since bacteria will easily form in the pores of the wood. The listing makes no mention that the buyer needs to seal it themselves, and for a retail product like this, I would expect it to come already done for me. To improve this product, I would highly recommend the manufacturer switch to a hardwood tray that isn't so porous, or at the very least, apply a proper sealant to protect the wood. It is a nice design, but you will need to finish the wood yourself if you want it to last and be truly safe for food.

Cute but doesn’t keep pastries fresh
We keep pastries out on the counter a lot (in the containers from the store). We were excited to try this cute cake stand to declutter the counter a bit. And it really is adorable, but we found that our pastries were hardening just two days after transferring them to the cake stand. So if you’re like us and looking for something a little more long-term, this probably isn’t a good solution.

We do a lot of weekend cooking and hosting out on our backyard patio, so I picked up this serving tray to keep food protected while entertaining friends and family. Having two energetic German Shepherds roaming the house means keeping stray pet hair and floating dust away from appetizers is essential, and this tight fitting lid manages that flawlessly. The heavy duty hinge swings open smoothly with one hand so nobody has to fumble with where to balance a separate lid. The crystal clear dome provides sharp visibility from across the table, while the solid wood base feels sturdy, hefty, and looks great with its rich natural grain. Using the wooden platter on its own as a charcuterie board makes it suprisingly versatile for regular kitchen prep, and the smooth food safe finish wipes down easily after every gathering. It definately delivers outstanding bang for your buck by blending durable craftsmanship with thoughtful everyday functionality. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.
